This YouTube video takes you on a trip from Étoile du Matin to the Main Resort via the “Casino Express”. 

The Versant Soleil Gondola Station is located to the Western side of Etoile du Matin.  The opening of Mont Tremblant Casino will mark the official start of the free gondola service, taking you from Sommet de Neige to Etoile du Matin and the Mont Tremblant Casino.

The new casino is spectacular, it provides some 400 slot machines and 25 dealer-operated gaming tables, 5 of which are reserved for Texas Hold’em Poker. Additionally a 125-capacity bar where events will be held on occasion and indoor and outdoor parking facilities.

It is Mont Tremblant’s “must see venue” as not only is the architecture stunning but the Casino houses an amazing collection of art from La Collection Loto-Québec showcasing the creativity of Québec artists for the Casino de Mont-Tremblant project.  Free access is provided to the public in many cultural venues, La Collection Loto-Québec has become a kind of travelling museum while it simultaneously and proudly fulfills its role as one of the largest corporate collections in Canada

Access to the new Casinois provided by the “Casino Espress gondola“  connecting the Main Resort with Versant Soleil.

Casino de Mont-Tremblant will be accessible to skiers right off the slopes with luxury accommodation for holiday makers being provided at Étoile du Matin.

Have you ever tried maple syrup taffy?

In Mont Tremblant there is a belle Maple Syrup Cabin that specialises in Maple syrup products and confectionary. Our children love it. This photo shows how pretty the cabin looks in a Quebec winter’s evening.

Maple syrup in French is “sirop d’érable” – don’t ask me what taffy is called!

In June 2009 we have learnt that MTIA has government approval and funding for an expansion making more accessible to everyone.  The artists impression below suggests that it will be large enough for European and Mexican carriers to get their planes in.

This will be such an asset, promoting the Laurentians as a world class skiing destination.  Work is due to start next year and it is anticipated that the new airport will be open in 2011.

Good coffee – you may think Canadian “country style” coffee is super. Canadians have an affinity with filtered ground coffee and in Quebec it seems that Montreal based Van Houtte is the dominant brand.  They serve it everywhere.

Europeans do like their espressos, cappuccinos and lattes.  I expect many visitors could find “Country Style” coffee a bit bland and weak and despite being served in gallon mugs it doesn’t get better with volume.

I only found one place in the resort that did a proper coffee – the cyber cafe!
