We all knew about the small airport where private jets and sightseeing boat-planes could land but it was a bit exclusive until Porter Airlines started flying people in from Toronto and New York.

In June 2009 we have learnt that MTIA has government approval and funding for an expansion making more accessible to everyone.  The artists impression below suggests that it will be large enough for European and Mexican carriers to get their planes in.

This will be such an asset, promoting the Laurentians as a world class skiing destination.  Work is due to start next year and it is anticipated that the new airport will be open in 2011.
